If the winter blues has you down and you are aching to get on the golf course, pick your chin up, put a smile on your face and grab your wallet because it is time to go Shopping! Certainly you can’t be planning to play this up coming season with last years clubs. (Unless of course they helped you play a better game than Tiger.) The Toronto area has all your golf shopping needs covered. There are shops around town that will offer something for your every need. One of the country’s largest golf shops is Golf Town Canada. This huge store dedicated to our favorite pastime offers the Golf devotee a chance to try out all of the latest equipment. They offer every major name brand in the industry Nike, Ping, Titelist and Taylormade.
Another great store in our area is Nevada Bob’s golf. They literally cover everything on the market with a large variety of clubs and bags for every player level. While you are shopping around be sure to stop at the Golf Clearance Warehouse. Everything you need is available here at a discount. Another great place to stop is Bass Pro’s Outdoor world, not only do they have a wide variety of clubs and bags available but it is a great place to find all those things you need for those other activities you have been deprived of all winter, such as fishing and camping. They also offer a wide variety of equipment for outdoor cooking. If you desire custom made clubs designed just to fit you then you owe it to yourself to stop at Fore The Golfer. They can also regrip or reshaft your current clubs if you have grown attached to them. If you are looking for previously played equipment then there are two great options in the GTA. The Golf Gallery can cater to the beginner with a large variety of used clubs and they will also purchase your previously played clubs. It might be a little easier to justify purchasing new clubs if you sell your old ones. Play it again sports will sell or trade new or used Golf equipment. They are also a good source for all your sporting needs from tennis rackets to treadmills. After you have purchased all your golfing needs for the season and you just can not wait to get on the links, round up a bunch of your buddies and head out of the cold for a week and take in one of the great golf havens in the south. All along the southeast coast of the states you will find golf towns just waiting for you to hop on a plane and come down and play.
Myrtle Beach South Carolina offers over 100 golf courses just waiting for you. There are some great packages available that can be found on line or from your favorite travel agent. Many of the hotels along the beach have golf packages that offer greens fees and rooms at a good rate.
A little further south is Pawley’s Island a number of expertly designed courses, set in a southern atmosphere of palmetto trees and rolling greens. Among the great courses offered are Caledonia, True Blue and Pawley’s plantation.
The beauty of Savannah invites you to escape the cold and enjoy the serenity of the Deep South. Awaiting your visit are courses like The Landings, with its numerous courses, Wilmington island Golf Course with its Donald J Ross designed course.
Just north of Savannah, back across the state line is Hilton Head with its world famous courses such as Daufuskie Island resort which offers two great courses. The main course known as “Bloody Point” and the “Melrose” course were both designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Melrose course was ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the top 100 public courses in the world. The lists of warmer climates that offer great courses are a long one and the names listed above are just a few of the places the “guys” could get away from the cold and play some great Golf.
