Located in the southend on the east side of Kitchener, right next to Cambridge and just south of Breslau, Idlewood Lackner Woods has become of the area’s most desirable and sought-after neighborhoods because of the variety of accommodations available, access to the outdoors and parks, local schools, shopping, expressway and the airport.
Considered suburban neighborhoods, Idlewood and Lackner Woods grew in popularity once a large bridge was completed that extended Fairway Road over the Grand River to meet Fountain Street. This opened up access to Cambridge, resulting in a sky rocketing demand for real estate. Quiet areas with multi-residential rentals available along major arteries and older, larger homes in the northern and eastern parts of this community, Idlewood and Lackner Woods attracts a variety of residents looking for peace and quiet, access to the outdoors and good quality homes.

The airport is roughly 5-10 minutes away. Idlewood and Lackner Woods are easily accessible to Guelph and have quick access to highway 24 and the 401.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love taking a hike, going for a jog or a stroll in any of the plentiful small parks and trails around Idlewood and Lackner Woods. The most popular route is the Grand River Trail that follows the Grand River around the neighborhood. There’s also beautiful areas by Idlewood Creek that meanders off Grand River into Springmount Park. Other areas of interest include Idlewood Park Natural Area, Briarfield Park and the Grand River Natural Area too.

You can bring the kids to play in any of the playgrounds here. The Chicopee Ski Hill offers both hiking and biking trails nearby as well.
Elementary school children can attend the Chicopee Hills Public School or the Lackner Woods Public School. Catholic students can attend Saint John Paul the Second. High school students take the bus to attend the local high school, Grand River Collegiate Institute in Grand River North.

Idlewood and Lackner Woods have plentiful parks, most notable of which is the 5-mile, Walter Bean Grand River Trail that follows the Grand River around the neighborhood. You can bring dogs out on the trail, but they must be kept on a leash.
