Fall commencing means it is time to enjoy pumpkin flavours, delicious homemade pies, freshly baked farm goods, tractor rides and taking trips to celebrate the change of seasons.
There are several pumpkin patches near Stratford, Kitchener and Guelph where you can enjoy delicious local favours with fresh coffee and go on a hay ride, push pedal carts and more. You can bring the family or even make it a company outing as there is something to do for everyone.
Here are our suggestions for a wonderful day outing.
Snyders Family Farm
This family farm includes a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pirate play ship, hayrides, corn maze, straw castle and more. Weekend Admission is free for children aged two and under, while 3-12 and 65+ get in for $12 apiece and 13-65 pay $13.99 + HST. Weekdays admission is only $9.99/person + HST and has a limited number of attractions open. Open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday to Friday, this farm has extended weekend hours till 7 p.m. (10 am-7 p.m.)
Hours: 10:00 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, 10 am-7 p.m. on weekends, Aug 31-Nov 3, weekdays in October.
Smelski Pumpkin Farm
Known for its record-setting giant pumpkins, Smelski Pumpkin Farm has a large pumpkin patch, haunted trail and offers honey from hives on the farm. Located between New Hamburg and Shakespeare 3km east of Shakespeare on Highway 7 & 8 911# 1899 on route to the Stratford Festival, this pumpkin farm is right beside the Fryfogel Inn Historic Site.

Nauman’s Farm & Country Market
Enjoy a variety of activities from corn maze to pumpkin patch picking and hay rides at this local farm. Nauman’s also offers freshly baked goods, snacks and a refreshment stand, a gift shop, flowers and pre-picked produce for purchase. Located in the quiet Mennonite community of St. Clements, Nauman’s is popular among kids and adults alike for its variety of kid-friendly fall activities including a rope maze, giant tube slides, spider web, straw mountain, beam swing and sand pit and home-made preserves, apple cider and more.

Strom’s Farm and Bakery
Open from 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m., this pumpkin patch has a Harvest Fun area with a large corn maze, straw maze, pedal carts, puppet show and best of all, a pumpkin ‘chuckin’ area where you can launch mini pumpkins into the air. The Harvest Fun area is a seasonal activity set up from September 19th to October the 30th. It costs $11.95 + HST for those ages 4+ and children 3 and under are free.

Shantz Family Farm
This family farm near Mannheim offers a one-of-a-kind corn maze, straw maze, petting zoo, pumpkins patch, fresh produce, Indian corn and squash and baked goods.

A short drive from Guelph in Milton, the Springridge Farm has a Fun Yard set up for family activities ranging from a tractor drawn wagon ride to a spiderweb climber, sandbox, corn trails, antique tractors, singing chicken show, pony rides and a petting zoo with farm animals. Entrance is $5 for those aged 2-92, excluding Harvest Festival Weekends. Harvest Festival Weekends cost $13/person and happen every weekend in October.
