Inspired by nature, the Pantone 2017 colour of the year is Greenery. This zesty yellow green shade is reminiscent of the first days of spring. Symbolic of new beginnings, the colour is ushering a new trend in the 2017 indoor and outdoor colour pallet.
Greenery is described by Pantone as “nature’s neutral” and that’s significant. We’ve already moved away from boring beige and onto shades of grey, of which Greenery is completely complementary.
Over at Benjamin Moore, Shadow 2117-30 is the colour of the year. This deep blue-grey is described as allusive and enigmatic by the Benjamin Moore team with creative director Ellen O’Neill saying it “ebbs and flows with its surroundings and light brings it to life.” A master of ambiance, she suggests letting Shadow set the mood.
Shadow is complemented by an assortment of greys and greens in the 2017 Benjamin Moore colour palette and last year’s pale pink is still very much on-trend with a shade called Pink Bliss.
Dulux is calling Starry Sky 70BB 21/147 the colour of the year and recommends creating a celestial yet grounded décor scheme around this mid-intensity grey-violet colour by using it on a feature wall and complementing it with shades of grey-green, turquoise and cedar.
While all of these companies are choosing different colours for 2017 the palette is cohesively natural, soft and warm. The shades of blue and green can be combined together and complemented with various other pops of colour for a tone that’s undeniably moody.
It’s going to be an interesting year with the 2017 indoor and outdoor colour pallet.
